Imagine your walls filled with amazing images, and being able to tell people you made them!

Tuition days include the essential theory you need to start taking control of your photos. Then we head out to put theory into practice, to give you the chance to experiment with what you've learnt. we'll then head back to look through your photos, and demonstrate some editing techniques.

There's no pressure. Our training days are informal and relaxed. Whilst out shooting, you can have as little or as much help as you wish. Groups are limited to just 4 people (much less than most workshops), to make sure you get as much input as you want.

Digital Photography Basics
A 1 day course which covers the theory you need to take your camera off Auto, and taking control. We cover:
Focusing
Depth of field
Shutter speed
Exposure control
Composition
Creativity

We then spend a couple of hours out and about, spotting photographic opportunities, and learning how to make the most of it. This session will really open your eyes and change the way you think. You’ll come away with images you’re dying to show off.

To end the day, we review some of your images, and cover some basic editing techniques. Following the day, you can send your images in, and they will be edited and made into a slideshow for you to share.

Digital Photography Improvers
If you already know how to use your camera, but would like to take better photos, this is the course for you. Building on the Digital Photography Basics, we discuss the techniques in greater detail, and cover more advanced compositional techniques. Time is spent reviewing other people’s photographs, which is a highly effective way to improve your own.
This course also covers on and off-camera flash, which can really make your photos come alive, portrait and landscape techniques, and use of filters.

Here are some kind words from some of our students. View some of their photos here

"As someone with an interest in taking better photos and wanting to learn about SLR cameras I found that this day was very useful. It was an informal and relaxed day and paul made me feel welcome and was able to adjust to my needs as well as others who had more experience than me. I learnt a lot with a good balance between theory and practice. I particularly enjoyed going out in York to practice and get the guidance as you were taking the photos. Additionally I enjoyed looking at the photos back at the classroom for a review of the photos taken. Overall I found Paul to be approachable and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend this workshop for those interested in taking better photos and increasing their knowledge of SLR cameras."
Clair

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the 1 to 1 session on Sunday.
I have learnt such a lot in the space of a few hours, particularly about exposure compensation and the use of ISO settings.
I would love to come on the day course after Xmas.
Once again many thanks, look forward to hearing from you if you want to see the results of your tuition."
John

"We enjoyed ourselves on the workshop, we had a great times and learned lots, knowing how to use the camera, not only with the settings but getting out and practising taking the photos, seeing things to photo in different ways and knowing where to focus made a huge difference."
